IDT Final Project
IT899 * Spring 2020
The Client:
North Fairview Elementary School is located in North Topeka, and is one of five elementary schools in the Seaman School District.
The Problem:
North Fairview Elementary School employs 10-15 paraprofessional and instructional aide staff members each year. Often, the school welcomes new employees who have little or no experience teaching from specific curricula. The high turnover of this job, as well as the training gaps inherent in this position have demonstrated the need for training modules, which are specifically designed for paraprofessionals and instructional aides.
The Training Solution:
In order to meet the needs of the paraprofessional staff without sacrificing much student contact time, easily accessible, efficient training modules are needed to train the staff how to teach with specific curricula materials. I developed three such modules, focusing on three of the most commonly used tier 2 resources at North Fairview.
The complete modules are stored in the district learning management system, Schoology. From there, supervisors can easily assign the modules to employees, providing just-in-time training. If you would like access to the complete modules, please contact me through the form in my contact page and request the credentials to my demo Schoology account.
The bulk of the training modules can be viewed by selecting one of the images in the next section. These presentations include all of the Absorb and Do activities for the module. The only parts you will not see (as they were developed directly in Schoology) are the basic instructions, the discussion threads and the summative evaluation pieces.
